Sanford R. “Sandy” Climan

Sanford R. “Sandy” Climan serves as Chairman of FEHSF West and brings to the Foundation a distinguished career in media, entertainment, technology, investment, philanthropy, and global strategic advisory work. FEHSF lists Mr. Climan as Chairman of FEHSF West, where he helps advance the Foundation’s mission of supporting law enforcement and national security professionals and their families in moments of crisis.

Mr. Climan is the founder and chief executive of Entertainment Media Ventures, Inc., a media investment and strategic advisory firm he founded in 1999. Through EMV, he has worked at the intersection of media, technology, entertainment, business strategy, and disruptive innovation, advising companies and leaders navigating change across major industries.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Climan has held senior leadership roles at some of the most influential institutions in entertainment and media. He served as Corporate Executive Vice President and President of Worldwide Business Development at Universal Studios, where he oversaw corporate international strategy, strategic marketing, and multiple studio operating divisions. Earlier in his career, he held executive positions at MGM and was a senior member of Creative Artists Agency, where he helped establish CAA’s corporate practice and worked with major global companies and leading creative talent.

Mr. Climan’s work as a producer and media innovator has also earned significant recognition. He was a producer of The Aviator, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which received major international honors, including a Golden Globe and a British Academy Award. He also served as executive producer of U2 3D, widely recognized as the first digital live-action 3D feature film.

Beyond his business and creative accomplishments, Mr. Climan has been deeply involved in civic, educational, philanthropic, and advisory work. He has served on charitable and advisory boards connected to the American Cinematheque, UCLA, the UCLA Longevity Center, the World Economic Forum, the Reuters Editorial Advisory Board, and the Yale CEO Leadership Institute. He also served on the Advisory Committee to the Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has been recognized with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

As Chairman of FEHSF West, Mr. Climan helps expand the Foundation’s reach, relationships, and impact across the western United States. His career reflects a consistent ability to bring leaders, institutions, and communities together around important missions. Through FEHSF, he helps ensure that when law enforcement and national security families face sudden loss, serious illness, injury, or hardship, they are met with immediate support, dignity, and compassion.
